Kumeu Art in the Garden - Nov 7-8

Kumeu Art in the Garden is a festival over two days showing almost 100 artists and sculptors within the gallery of six of Kumeu’s award winning gardens.

The event runs on Sat 7th & Sun 8th November 2009 10 am to 3pm.

I will be at the Dragonfly Garden which is at 130 Muriwai Valley Road, Waimauku.

Grapes for the top of the South

Not that it should surprise me but with the fantastic Latitide-41 in Picton now selling LisaSarah art, the grape art is selling like hotcakes down there.

Designed primarily as a commission with a vintner from the US, I thought the grape art would be a huge hit here in NZ. The detail is awesome and the syrah, chardonnay and cabernet grapes depicted accurately - thanks to Kiki from California.

They are finally coming into their own with the mainlanders from the top of the south and I couldn't be happier, seeing as they are a personal favourite.

NZ Photographer, Paul Kettel, selected for International Honours

Phenomenally talented photographer Paul Kettel (who I have previously mentioned on my blog) has had two of his wildlife images selected for inclusion in the 2009 ANZANG Book.

ANZANG is focused on the unique natural heritage of the bioregion of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea – continents and islands cast from the great southern continent of Gondwana Land over fifty million years ago in which, due to long periods of isolation, remarkable flora and fauna have evolved.
The annual photography competition highlights this extraordinary legacy by encouraging photography of the region’s nature and wilderness, raising public awareness of its natural heritage.

All winning and highly commended entries form a major travelling exhibition displayed at public museums and galleries.
One of Paul's images has made it to the exhibition which will be held at the South Australian Museum for final judging. Prize winners will be selected from the exhibition. Fingers crossed for Paul!

Campbell Live from TV3 to be at Bruce Mason Exhibition on Thursday

I'm very excited to let you know that Campbell Live from TV3 will be filming at the opening of the annual NZ Art Guild exhibition and charity art auction "Out of the Blue" on Thursday night, featuring one of my lisaSarah pieces, "Life is Beautiful".

They have been in contact with the Mental Health Foundation of NZ (MHF) and want to film the live auction of the 2009 collaborative artwork Ngatahi. 61 members have contributed to this artwork from all around NZ. 100% of the funds raised from the sale will be donated to MHF.

If you are able to make it to the opening night - 6:30 July 2nd Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna it would be fantastic to see you there - the more the merrierr - bring family and friends.

If you can't make it be sure to tune in to Campbell Live TV3 on Thursday evening at 7pm.

Art from the Heart - July 1

Mairangi Bay School Art Exhibition and Auction. Come along (tickets $5) and help celebrate the school children's art and admire (and bid for) some fabulous art from their local community.

Wednesday 1 July, doors open at 7pm so you can view the artwork up for auction and enjoy the wine, nibbles and live music courtesy of the Rangitoto College Chamber Orchestra.

Next Saturday, visitors to New Zealand day at Toast on Clapham Common, will be treated the stunning stainless steel artwork created by New Zealand artist Lisa Turley, designer for LISASARAH.COM, which will adorn walls of the entrance marquee at London’s much-revered antipodean festival.

After much critical acclaim in New Zealand, Lisa received a personal invitation from organisers of the hugely successful annual event, which celebrates the best of the southern hemisphere, asking her to showcase her latest range of outdoor stainless steel art, an offer she couldn’t refuse.

The kiwi lifestyle – and sometime summer in the UK (!) - means plenty of time spent outdoors with friends and family, so after a longwinded search for something to spice up Lisa’s newly landscaped garden, the artist was disappointed with the current offering. Having already designed a successful range of fabulously funky word art, Lisa made the decision to branch outdoors with her work – offering weather-friendly stainless steel artworks to complement her wooden word art range.

It has been estimated that around 10,000 people will enjoy viewing her work at Toast on Saturday, with all five inspirational pieces from the range on display having being made completely in New Zealand and with New Zealand materials.

The full range of artwork available includes fourteen pieces - with “New Zealand”, “Kia Kaha”, “Our World” and “Live, Love, Laugh” amongst others, already hitting international success with sales in the United States and the UK as well as in New Zealand.

Recently Queenstown’s Kapa Gallery exhibited Lisa’s work, with the director loving the piece he chose so much he insisted he “could have sold it three times over in the short duration of the show”.

Lisa Turley is also an active community supporter who regularly uses her good fortune to the aid of others. Her business lisasarah.com often donates pieces for fundraising efforts such as Starship Hospital and newly founded charitable organisation notforme.org.nz. She is a keen supporter of local kindergartens and also used her skills and time to assist the children of Newmarket Primary design the front entrance of their school.

Lisa Turley says: “I am delighted to have been asked to display my work at Toast and hope that it will be enjoyed by everyone attending on Saturday. I’m hoping this will open up new channels for me to display more of my work in the UK, which I am so passionate about doing.”
